February, the month we’ve been waiting for! The Crazies, starring Timothy Olyphant, Radha Mitchell, Joe Anderson and, of course, Danielle Panabaker, opens in theaters in just 25 more days. Just do a quick search on Twitter to find out how many people are talking about this! (even if it’s just about the title)
According to SeattlePiFilm.Com The Crazies is one of the solid choices this month:
Bet: The Crazies. Whenever it comes to writing about remakes I always stress the same tried and true, broken record-like mantra about making them: remake the good ideas that didn’t make such great films. Find the flawed movies and get them right. THAT is how remakes should be made. The first time I sat down and watched George A. Romero’s The Crazies, I knew that this was just such a picture. It needed to be remade. The original had some really great ideas and moments, but was drowning in melodrama, poor performances, and some dated concepts. Directed by the talented but relatively untested Breck Eisner (Sahara) and chronicling a small town overrun by a terrible virus but quarantined by the U.S. military, its inhabitants unable to leave, the trailer for this looks gritty, taut, and very disturbing. I have high hopes for this.
Btw, this is still sort of a secret but The Crazies Los Angeles premiere will be held at the Vista Theatre on Tuesday, February 23! There’s also another screening planned for the 24th, we’ll have to wait for some official confirmation though.
More info about The Crazies and Danielle’s character, Becca, can be found here. (4 quotes from the film have been added!)
The Crazies opens in theaters on February 26, 2010.
