By Fredy on April 26, 2010 | Filed in: DVD Release, The Crazies | With No Comments »

Anchor Bay Home Entertainment has announced DVD ($29.98) and Blu-ray ($39.98) releases of The Crazies for the 29th June. The Blu-ray will also include a digital copy.

From the Press Release:
Something strange is happening in the picture-perfect Midwestern town of Ogden Marsh. One by one, the inhabitants are transforming into mindless killers…and no one is immune. On June 29th, Anchor Bay Entertainment will unleash The Crazies on DVD and Blu-ray™ (Pre-book May 27, 2010). A terrifying reinvention of the George A. Romero classic, the Overture Films release shocked audiences with its nightmarish vision of the American Dream gone horribly wrong, as a husband and wife find themselves battling for survival as their friends and family descend into homicidal madness. Directed by Breck Eisner (Sahara) and starring Timothy Olyphant (“Deadwood,” “Justified”), Radha Mitchell (Surrogates), Joe Anderson (Across The Universe) and Danielle Panabaker (Friday the 13th), The Crazies are ready to overtake America all over again! In addition, the film marks the first time an Anchor Bay Entertainment title will be available day-and-date for digital download via iTunes.

The Crazies DVD and Blu-ray™ features more than 90 minutes of bonus features, including several behind-the-scenes featurettes, storyboards, theatrical trailers, TV spots, and much, much more. Look carefully and you might even find an Easter Egg! SRP is $29.98 for the DVD and $39.98 for the Blu-ray™ edition, which also contains a bonus disc with a digital copy of the film. Among the featurettes are a tribute to the original film’s creator George Romero and an insider’s glimpse into the startling special makeup effects created by makeup wizard Robert Hall (“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” Laid To Rest).

I’ve updated the gallery with screencaptures of Home of the Giants, starring Haley Joel Osment, Ryan Merriman and Danielle Panabaker, of course. This “small” independent film has its pros and cons but overall I have to say it’s a truly character driven film, full of emotion, suspense and a very nice soundtrack. Danielle is amazing as Bridgette, a peculiar character indeed! Enjoy the screencaps =)

    John Carpenter’s The Ward Update
By Fredy on April 15, 2010 | Filed in: The Ward | With No Comments »

Fangoria spoke to John Carpenter, director of The Ward:

Earlier this week, legendary director John Carpenter was kind enough to take some time out of a hectic postproduction schedule for THE WARD and give us the latest on the film, his much-anticipated return to theatrical horror, THE WARD. “It’s getting to the point where I’m working on the effects and music, and entering the final editing stage,” he tells Fango.

Carpenter’s official website has previously stated that fans could expect to see the movie this July, and Carpenter says, “As far as I’m concerned, it will be on schedule. But I don’t know what the release plans are.”

“This script [by Michael Rasmussen and Shawn Rasmussen] came along, and it had some nice features I wanted to try,” the director recalls. “It was limited to a small scope, so I didn’t have to kill myself physically making the film. It was a chance to have some fun, and I really enjoyed the hell out of making it.” He adds that the film features “essentially an all-girl cast”—also including THE CRAZIESDanielle Panabaker, KICK-ASS’ Lyndsy Fonseca, Mika Boorem and Mamie Gummer—which will make an interesting counterpoint in his filmography, considering the noted all-male ensemble in his masterpiece THE THING.

One piece of news that may sadden aficionados of Carpenter’s distinctive scores is that neither he nor his son Cody (who provided the music for his father’s MASTERS episodes) will be involved with THE WARD’s soundtrack. Instead, these duties will fall to Mark Kilian, a young composer described by Carpenter as “very, very talented.” For more on THE WARD and Carpenter’s other current and future projects, keep you eye on the pages of Fango this summer.

More info about The Ward and Danielle’s character, Sarah, can be found here.

Danielle Panabaker talks John Carpenter and Spider-Man
By Fredy on April 8, 2010 | Filed in: Articles, Gallery Updates, Mr. Brooks, Sky High, The Crazies, The Ward, Weakness | With 1 Comment »

Here’s part of a brand new interview coming from Killer Film. Danielle talks about The Crazies, The Ward, Weakness, Sky High, Mr. Brooks and Spider-Man rumors:

Danielle Panabaker is one of the busiest young actresses in Hollywood, and my interview covers the past, present and future for the starlet. The name might not be recognizable, but her resume sure speaks for itself.

Jason Bene: John Carpenter has decided to put down his XBOX long enough to direct his first film in almost ten years with The Ward. Can you talk about working with a true ‘Master of Horror’?

Danielle Panabaker: It was just such a pleasure and a delight. I was certainly intimidated and nervous going into it because he is the ‘Master of Horror’ and it couldn’t have been a better experience. He was so lovely. To work with someone who has spent so much time on film sets and wh has such a mastery of his craft is truly a great experience. I have so much respect for him. I feel very lucky and grateful that I got the opportunity to work with him.

Jason Bene: Can you tell us about your character in The Ward?

Danielle Panabaker: The Ward takes place in the 60’s and it’s about five young women in an insane asylum who start disappearing one by one. I knew one of the new patients and I go to the hospital and start asking questions. It’s about what happens to her and the other young women. She starts to explore a little deeper and asks a few questions.

Jason Bene: Friday the 13th was a huge hit for you, were you concerned about being in another horror remake so soon with The Crazies?

Danielle Pananbaker: I wasn’t. The scripts are from similar genres, but the scripts themselves are very different. With Friday the 13th you are working with such an iconic character and there is a very specific formula in terms of the Friday the 13th movies. Those are for a really specific audience and I think they [Platinum Dunes] did a great job of reaching that. With The Crazies, I feel like there are so many additional layers in terms of the social ramifications of what we are dealing with. The movie just has a broader appeal to a wider demographic of people. So, it was really for me about getting a great opportunity to work with some really talented people.

Jason Bene: What can we expect from you in the near future?

Danielle Panabaker: I did a small independent film called Weakness that I shot in New York last summer that I still haven’t seen yet, but I hear great things about. Hopefully that will be released sometime in the future.

Jason Bene: Sony pictures is talking about rebooting the Spider-Man franchise. You seem like you’d be a good choice to play Mary Jane Watson. Have you thought about trying out for that role?

Danielle Panabaker: I’m very flattered, thank you so much! Absolutely, I think the Spider-Man franchise is such a world reaching franchise and a role I would absolutely audition for.

I’ve also updated the gallery with a very spoilerish The Crazies still, proceed with caution if you haven’t seen the movie yet!
