Danielle Panabaker WILL NOT be in “The Vampire Diaries”
By Fredy on January 25, 2012 | Filed in: TV Guest Appearances | With 1 Comment »

I am very sorry for not clarifying this before, but Danielle won’t be appearing in “The Vampire Diaries”. Months ago, there was a rumor spread about Danielle Panabaker being added to the cast of the series as a “vampwitch” named Veronica. This turned out to be false when Danielle herself confirmed she was not aware of this “casting”.

A fan asked if the news was true, to which Danielle replied “not that I’ve heard! But I’m flattered”. The whole discussion took place on Twitter. I’m just clarifying it for those who have been expecting her appearance. Unless Danielle herself confirms she’s gotten a role in “The Vampire Diaries” (just like she has with all of her recent projects) she will NOT be appearing on the show.

I do apologize for not posting this before.

Here’s part of Deadline’s report on the Disney|ABC Television Group’s 2012 Winter Press Tour, which took place on January 9th and 10th, 2012:

ABC Family has 4 pilots in contention, dramas Bunheads, written by Amy Sherman-Palladino, and Intercept and comedies Village People, and Baby Daddy, penned by Berendsen. Word is that three of them, Intercept, Village People and Baby Daddy, are already in preliminary stages of staffing.

On January 7th, Kevin Hooks, director of the pilot, tweeted the following news to the stars of the potential TV series:

“Intercept” is finally done! Big S/O to @Austin_Butler@dpanabaker,@Cloball, and @NolanFunk for a kickass pilot! Great work! Good luck!

So it seems things are looking bright for Danielle’s latest project, “Intercept”. We might be hearing some good news very soon!

“Intercept” tells the story of four college students that get roped into solving crimes when one of them creates a high-tech communication device that intercepts conversations throughout the West Coast. Danielle Panabaker, Austin Butler, Chloe Wang and Nolan Gerard Funk star.

Director John Gulager talks about Piranha 3DD’s release
By Fredy on January 3, 2012 | Filed in: Piranha 3DD | With No Comments »

‘Piranha 3DD’ director, John Gulager, talked to ShockTillYouDrop to further clarify that the film has now been completed and it will be coming to theaters in 3D this spring. Here’s what he shared:

I’m really glad that people are interested in the progress of Piranha 3DD.

I can tell you that at 6:30 pm on December 19th, my birthday, the sound mixing for Piranha 3DD was done and the film was finished.

The plan is to come to theaters this Spring in 3D(D)!

The original November release date was made before we started filming. As Melton says, “…the Thanksgiving release was always overly optimistic.” Ha, ha, that’s a good way of putting it! The main problem was this thing called Winter. There was no way we could ask anyone to strip down and jump into the water. Besides being inhumane and stupid, even with ‘movie magic’, it would be too dangerous. So we waited until it was warm enough to shoot but not so late that our main location became unavailable (open to the public) and started shooting in real 3D on April 25th, 2011.

We shoot the movie. Zany antics ensue. We edit over the summer. Work on visual FX, sound and music (songs). Get a couple days of pick-ups. Get a composer.

We released a short teaser trailer on the Spike Awards in October to give a taste of what’s in store but had to let go of the November theatrical date. The film just wasn’t totally finished. When that happened any planned releases around the world had to be scrapped and reset because Piranha 3DD must be released here, in the US, first. I think this is a Spring film anyways.

But…we did have a test screening in November and people liked it…a lot.

So remember, DOUBLE THE TERROR, DOUBLE THE D’S! See you on the front row! – John Gulager

‘Piranha 3DD’ WILL Get a Theatrical Release in the UK
By Fredy on January 3, 2012 | Filed in: Piranha 3DD | With No Comments »

Good news for UK fans! The representatives at Entertainment Film Distribution (the company in charge of the distribution of ‘Piranha 3DD’ in the UK) contacted HeyYouGuys to clarify that the film will indeed be getting a theatrical release. Here’s part of what they had to say:

We would like to assure everyone that Piranha 3DD will not be going straight to DVD in the U.K. as mistakenly reported.  We will be giving Piranha 3DD a full theatrical release and the film will not be released on DVD until the usual window post U.K. theatrical release.

It’s good to know all those rumors are finally being proven false.

‘Piranha 3DD’ Status Update + US Theatrical Release Confirmation
By Fredy on January 1, 2012 | Filed in: Piranha 3DD | With No Comments »

Confirming what I updated yesterday, ‘Piranha 3DD’ co-writer Patrick Melton contacted Daily Dead to provide them with a status update, and assure that a US theatrical release is still planned. Here’s what he said:

To clarify, the Thanksgiving release was always overly optimistic. Marcus and I started writing the script around Thanksgiving a year prior. Making the film within that time period is plausible (we’ve done it on Saw, obviously), but it became clear very early on that our goals were not realistic because we needed sun, water slides, and bikini-clad coeds… three things not very prevalent in the United States during the months of January and February. We initially scouted Louisiana and realized that we wouldn’t be able to shoot until late March because of the cold weather. Now, with the additional FX worked needed to create/enhance the piranhas, the Thanksgiving release was out the window.

Nevertheless, we plowed on and finished shooting in late May. Over the summer, Gulager edited and picked up a few shots around Los Angeles. This is typical of every movie made. Scenes, jokes, and kills were simply enhanced to make the movie more of an event. About a month ago, it was tested and scored very well. So well the studio gave us more money to enhance the FX. Soon, it’ll be done and ready for a theatrical release. Because of the “Spring Break vibe” in the film, spring was the obvious time to open it. And because Dimension Films financed the movie and owns the movie, they call the shots on when it’s released worldwide.

So, that’s the long and short of it. All good. In theaters this spring. See you then.

We’ll keep you posted on the actual release date!
