Here’s another small interview Danielle did for Reno-Gazette Journal, and a short behind-the-scenes video. Thanks so much to our visitor/contributor Christian for letting us know:
For a few odd moments in “The Shunning,” Katie Lapp experiences being … well, ordinary.
“She’s not used to blending in,” said Danielle Panabaker, who plays her. “She suddenly has that sense of anonymity. She doesn’t have to worry about whether people are looking at her.”
And yes, Panabaker understands why that would be a pleasure.
For Katie, the attention starts with her clothes. She’s spent her life in Amish garb; her one experiment of changing clothes feels like a revelation.
For Panabaker, it starts with her career.
An actress for nine of her 23 years, she’s used to being noticed.
“It started when I worked a lot for Disney,” she said. “Kids respond to actors in different ways.”
Still, there are times and places when she can go unnoticed. And there are roles she can sink into.
On a surface level, the notion of being Amish seems staggering.
“It’s amazing to exist without a cell phone. … I don’t tweet, but if I didn’t have a Blackberry, I wouldn’t know what to do,” Panabaker said.
Still, she said, those devices have a hidden impact.
“The quality of a relationship changes; relationships become polluted,” she said.
By comparison, the Amish have direct lives. Many have a custom of living as non-Amish, during a bridge between childhood and the adult years.
“My assumption was that kids would just love it, but 85 to 90 percent of them come right back,” Panabaker said.
John Carpenter’s The Ward opens in italian theaters this friday, April 1st! Not only that but the film will also have its US premiere during the Dallas International Film Festival on the same day. To celebrate this you can watch a Cast Interview with Danielle Panabaker and most of her co-stars.
Two clips have also been released, they both feature Danielle Panabaker as beautiful but snobbish Sarah. Unfortunately they are dubbed into italian, but I’m sure you can get the idea of what’s going on. Enjoy the two clips and the interview at our YouTube Channel!
XLrator Media, company in charge of The Ward‘s US distribution, is planning to release the film this summer! The release will be splitted into three stages: Video On Demand, theatrical and Blu-ray/DVD:
At present the plans are to release the title in premium VOD in June, followed by a theatrical release in July with the DVD and blu ray slated for August.
So far the only specific date is August 2, 2011 for the DVD and Blu-Ray release, handled by Arc Entertainment.
In the mean time enjoy the opening credits of the film, courtesy of BIM Distribuzione (company in charge of italian distribution). Remeber The Ward will open in Italy this friday, April 1st!
And last but not least, here’s the first TV promo for The Shunning. It’s starting to grow on me, not exactly my type of movie but still… it looks interesting. And fans of the book are very happy with the promotional material released so far!
The gallery has been updated with screencaptures of the promo as well:
Hallmark Movie Channel has released an On Location Featurette for upcoming movie The Shunning, starring Danielle Panabaker. Be sure to check it out below.
Also, you can check out 5 video interviews with Danielle Panabaker! She talks about her character, working with director Michael Landon Jr. and her biggest challenges as an actress. You can see all of the videos in our YouTube Channel.
I’ve updated the gallery with the first poster for Weakness, Danielle’s new independent film. The movie debuted at the 17th Annual Austin Film Festival last october and is currently looking for distribution.
You can also watch an alternate version of the first trailer HERE. It’s basically the same but the music and some scenes are a bit different.
Warner Bros. has released a few clips of John Carpenter’s The Ward (now playing in select UK cinemas). Here’s the one featuring Danielle Panabaker. I’m really liking her character, Sarah is very different from Jenna (Friday the 13th) and Becca (The Crazies). The clip shows a small scene where we get to see all of the girls interact… co-stars Amber Heard, Mamie Gummer and Laura-Leigh are also featured. Enjoy the eye candy!
I’ve also updated the gallery with screencaptures of the clip:
Beverly Lewis just published the first trailer for The Shunning. Even though the quality is very low, it gives us a very nice glimpse of Danielle Panabaker as Katie Lapp. The movie’s set to premiere on April 16th, 2011 9/8c on The Hallmark Channel, it will also get a DVD release during the summer!
